In honor of National Social Work Month (https://www.socialworkers.org/pressroom/swmonth/2016/default.asp), our Social Worker, Elaine Harris, has been diligently keeping us focused on our “Resident Rights” campaign, which we provide as refresher course every year for our staff.
As a Social Worker, Elaine has confronted some of the most challenging issues facing individuals today. She integrates herself with families and communities in need to find solutions that help people reach their full potential. She has worked in long term, assisted living, adult day care, and homeless and abused elderly populations throughout her career, giving her a unique perspective on the problems these groups face.
Social work is a challenging, yet rewarding career. Elaine loves Maya Angelou, and often refers to two of her favorite quotes: “I’ve learned that no matter what happens or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow,” and “Every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug or just a friendly pat on the back.”
All of us at Althea Woodland would like to acknowledge Elaine Harris and thank her for her contributions. Your service is invaluable.
