A Therapy Success Story at Althea Woodland

We pride ourselves on the quality of both the physical and occupational therapy (PT/OT) programs we've built at Althea Woodland, but seeing the results of our efforts positively impact someone's life reminds us why we strive to maintain such a high standard of care.

Duane Ralph was admitted to Althea Woodland following hospitalization for multiple medical conditions.  Mr. Ralph has cerebral palsy and has received therapy throughout his life, but in recent years has become progressively weaker, limiting his ability to walk or stand.  Our staff began implementation of a therapy program designed to return his strength and functionality to provide him the ability to perform activities of daily living once again.

The results were better than anticipated.  Thanks to our team's interdisciplinary approach and Mr. Ralph's perseverance, Mr. Ralph can now maintain an upright posture and stand for approximately 1.5 minutes for the first time in years.

Mr. Ralph was able to return home and resume use of a power chair.  Thanks to our team, he can enjoy outings with friends and family again, and generally live life more independently.  We're thankful to have had the opportunity to make an impact on his life and look forward to his continued success.
